Jasper Morrison in latex
After tying up Charles & Ray Eames with Eames in a thong, Franklin Azzi continues his exploration of iconic design by "redressing" Jasper Morrison. He envelops the Cork stool in a methodical network of elastic bands. This raw material, taut yet supple, evokes the original cork skin through its variations in tension and texture. Inspired by Sol LeWitt's Wall Drawings, this exploration of the weave transforms the object into a circular and almost organic motif. Despite the use of digital tools and industrial materials, the result retains an apparent naturalness. As with his architectural projects, Franklin Azzi intervenes without altering the existing structure: the stool remains intact beneath its second skin. In a nod to Arsène Lupin, he signs his discreet gesture with a card slipped between the straps of Jasper's jumpsuit.
