Amandiers theater

An iconic venue for theatrical productions in the Île-de-France region, the Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers is undergoing a process of renewal. Franklin Azzi is supporting its transformation by reconciling respect for its history, enhancing its composite architecture, and opening it up to the city and André Malraux Park. In dialogue with its past – from the temporary marquee to successive constructions – the project affirms a stance of consistency rather than rupture, preserving the existing balance while clarifying the flow and interpretation of spaces. The addition of a new 200-seat auditorium and the reorganisation of access points enable the theatre to strengthen its urban roots, which had previously been somewhat withdrawn. At the heart of this restructuring, the entrance hall has been completely redesigned. It has become a unifying, traversable and legible space, the true backbone of a venue now designed to support its missions of creation, production and contemporary dissemination.
