Le Monge tower, La Défense

Imagining the reversible spaces of a tower in La Défense calls for careful consideration of the programmatic definition of the uses it will accommodate. The innovative vision of the project is to find a way to reconcile the tower's vertical, monumental scale with the mobile, human scale of its users and their daily needs. The programme composition of the tower is anchored in an obvious layout linked to the routes to be taken. There are three types of common spaces: the base floors, connected to the city, the threshold of urbanity; the transfer floors, open to the city, framed by vegetation; and the top floors, belonging to the sky, a celestial suspension.

Thus, in this complementary vision, users do not get lost in a similar, duplicated offering, but rather enjoy a multiplicity of unique places. The journey through the Tower becomes a vertical stroll, just like a walk down a city street.
