Hangar Y, Art Explora
The agency, which came fourth in the competition, proposes preserving the central volume as a modular space dedicated to exhibitions and cultural events, while adding services and shops at its edges. The former aircraft hangar is reflected here in the transparency of the north facade and the opening to the outside.
By studying its topography, climate, orientation, fauna, and flora, in short, what we commonly refer to as the “already there”, our goal is to make the site and the project inseparable. A confident vernacular proposal that inhabits the landscape and rethinks the different spaces; from the original forest of Meudon to the geometric designs of André Le Nôtre, to the position of Hangar Y on the former Étang des Truites, via the orientation of the banks of the Étang de Chalais and the topography of the land.
