Seguin island
The Franklin Azzi Agency has devised a comprehensive approach to designing a building that is anchored in the Seine landscape and in line with the project's principles. The aim is to blend in with the existing environment, preserve the existing ecosystems, and create continuity in terms of vegetation, while ensuring public accessibility and the development of soft mobility. The building's volumes create a continuous, transparent façade on the garden side, facing the Seine, and a bold urban front on the central alley side. The project's layout is based on a detailed reading of the topography and the island's base, which has been excavated to create a ground floor that runs through the building, accessible from the central alley to the public garden. The orientation of the facades, the depth of the balconies and loggias, the presence of suspended walkways, and the diversity of green spaces all contribute to the building's climate control. Each architectural element—winter gardens, terraces, patios, planted roofs—is designed as an extension of the landscape and a support for flexible uses.
