Montparnasse Tower, major refurbishment and extension of a high-rise building
By Nouvelle AOM - Franklin Azzi, ChartierDalix, Hardel Le Bihan
The transformation of the Tour Montparnasse is a project designed to work in harmony with the elements. Winners of the 2016 Demain Montparnasse international competition, the project is based on a wind-powered façade, consisting of a double skin designed to capture prevailing winds and turn them into an ally in energy production.
The new Tour Montparnasse is now open in Paris, designed to accommodate a variety of uses and programmes both day and night: offices, shops, a hotel, a restaurant and an agricultural greenhouse.
Congratulations to the RPBW Renzo Piano Building Workshop team, which will be working on the shopping centre with a project that gives the base a clearer relationship with its environment. This intervention naturally complements our thinking and contributes to an overall vision for the Montparnasse site.
