Port-Boinot receives a prize from the ministry of culture

Thanks to the developments carried out on the Port-Boinot site by the Franklin Azzi Architecture agency, Niort is one of the four cities rewarded within the framework of a competition of the Ministry of Culture. The award ceremony will take place in Paris on November 25.

The announcement of the winners was made by the Ministry of Culture on Thursday, October 21. Niort is one of the four winning municipalities in the 2021 competition for the "Reconquest of city, town and territory entrances and their bangs". This competition is organized each year by the associations Patrimoine Environnement and Sites Remarks de France.

The City will receive the award from the Minister of Culture, Roselyne Bachelot. 24 municipalities were candidates for the competition. The jury had to decide on the basis of the innovative, environmentally friendly and heritage-friendly developments carried out to reclaim the city and diversify mobility in urban areas.

Niort has distinguished itself thanks to the Port-Boinot site, as it is a winner in the category "city entrance by water and river transport". The rehabilitation project was carried out jointly by the Parisian architect Franklin Azzi and the landscape architect Phytolab. With Port-Boinot, Niort is now the gateway to the Marais Poitevin. The site, facing both the city and the Sèvre Niortaise, allows visitors to understand the fluvial and industrial history of Niort and what the Marais Poitevin is.
