Design Parade Toulon 2019

The fourth edition of the international interior design festival, Design Parade Toulon, took place from 27 to 30 June 2019. With a view to supporting and sharing contemporary creation with the general public and professionals, the Villa Noailles selects and invites several young designers to reflect on a theme in the former bishop's palace, in the heart of Toulon's old town.... This year, they were asked to imagine their ideal Mediterranean villa.

For this 2019 edition, the Villa Noailles has called on an exceptional jury chaired by interior architect François Champsaur. Joining him on the jury are Parisian architect Franklin Azzi, Armand Arnal, chef of La Chassagnette restaurant in Arles, Lebanese designer Karen Chekerdjian, Parisian architect Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, Daphné Hézard, founder and editor-in-chief of Regain magazine in Paris, and Ambre Jarno, publisher of Maison Intègre in Burkina Faso, Rodolphe Parente, interior designer from Paris, Christophe Rihet, photographer from Paris, Kim Haddou and Florent Dufourcq, interior designers (Grand Prix Design Parade Toulon Van Cleef & Arpels 2018 - Paris) and Antoine Chauvin, interior designer (Grand Prix Design Parade Toulon Van Cleef & Arpels 2018 - Paris, Marseille). All were able to choose between the 10 young designers. The Grand Prix Design Parade Toulon Van Cleef & Arpels 2019 was awarded to Céline Thibault and Géraud Pellottiero, who designed a bathroom all in soap, combining Japanese tradition with their vision of the Mediterranean villa.

Alongside the young designers, a number of major names in interior architecture and design also put on mini-exhibitions. These include India Mahdavi's work on stripes, the eternal symbol of the beach, in a scenography created for the Centre Pompidou collection, and Mathieu Lehanneur's liquid marble. Last but not least, there's the space redesigned by jury president François Champsaur, which questions the relationship between man and nature.
